Electric vehicle batteries are either charged with AC power fed to an onboard AC-DC charger or high DC power from DC charging stations for fast charging. During the charge cycle, a high current running through the connectors of the charging inlet over a long period may generate high heat, which can be a potential safety hazard to components and users. Also, overheat may affect the charging efficiency. Therefore, monitoring the temperature of connectors is critical for charging safety and charging rate optimization.
